Lot 5
Half Cent. 1793. Cohen-3, Rarity-3. Strong Cap, Thin Leaves on holder. PCGS graded MS-63. Brown. This is the only Mint State Strong Cap, Thin Leaves graded, and in fact, only 6 have been graded of this type (1793) this high, with two graded higher. Medium chocolate brown in color with subdued mint luster in the fields. Well struck, with every device full and complete, including the reverse wreath and "HALF CENT" which often comes very weak on some coins. One minor dark streak through Liberty's lower curls, and on the reverse a small dark area near the fraction. Struck on a nice, even planchet, without the usual pitting or other problems attendant to copper coinage. Two tiny spots of note, one above the second S of STATES, another just below on the wreath. An outstanding opportunity for the collector to acquire one of the very finest 1793 Half Cents in existance. As experienced numismatists know, this is a coin that is seldom found with decent surfaces, and almost never even approaching Mint State, let alone choice as offered here.

Lot 7
Half Cent. 1793. Cohen-3, Rarity-3. Sharpness of VG-7. Struck on a porous planchet with some pits noted on the lower obverse and reingraved on LIBERTY. This is the first year of issue of the Half Cent by the Philadelphia Mint, and all examples are eagerly sought by collecters. Liberty's portrait is clear and undimished by pits or problems, and the reverse detail is also visible. One that should be examined for the problems to properly value.
